A TV above a fireplace needs a plan for the viewing height, wall finish, mounting bracket and cable route. Discuss the seating position and the space above the mantel before choosing the TV position.

Match the installation to the wall

The original service covers brick, stone, tile, drywall and stucco fireplace surrounds. The visible finish and the supporting structure both matter when planning the mount. Stud anchoring and any alternative fastening approach need to suit the particular wall and equipment; a general description of toggle hardware is not an installation-specific load rating.

Choose the mount around the viewing position

A tilt or full-motion mount may help angle the screen toward the seating area. The TV, bracket, wall and mantel arrangement determine the available movement and position. Discuss those details with me before selecting the bracket.

Plan the cable route

The original service describes concealment through a mantel or wall cavity to a low-profile outlet. Whether that route is suitable depends on the actual fireplace construction, power arrangement and equipment.
