55" TV Mounted on MantelMount MM340 Above Brick Fireplace in Edina

Recent Edina Installation

This Edina family wanted to enjoy their TV above the fireplace without the neck strain that typically comes with it. The solution? A MantelMount MM340—the pull-down mount that transforms above-fireplace viewing from uncomfortable to ideal.

What Made This Install Different

• TV positioned above a Brick fireplace with mounting height, heat, and viewing angle handled before drilling.
• Used a MantelMount matched to the room layout and how the customer actually watches the TV.

We installed the 55" TV on the MM340 above their whitewashed brick fireplace, complete with a rustic wood mantel shelf. The MantelMount allows them to pull the TV down to eye level when watching, then push it back up against the wall when they're done. Best of both worlds: the TV stays out of the way when not in use, and viewing is comfortable when it matters.

Why MantelMount for This Space

Look at this setup—floor-to-ceiling brick with a traditional brass fireplace surround, flanked by beautiful built-in bookshelves loaded with family games and personal touches. This is clearly the heart of the home, the room where everyone gathers.

The problem with above-fireplace mounting is simple geometry: when you're sitting on a couch, looking up at a TV mounted 5-6 feet off the ground gets uncomfortable fast. The MantelMount MM340 solves this by letting you pull the TV down and forward, bringing the screen to a natural viewing height. When movie night's over, it tucks back up where it belongs.

Mounting on brick requires a hammer drill and masonry anchors—you can't just use standard lag bolts like you would on drywall. We drilled directly into the brick (not the mortar joints) for maximum holding strength, ensuring this MantelMount isn't going anywhere even with repeated pulling and pushing.

The Character of Edina Homes

Edina residences often feature these classic brick fireplaces from the mid-century era when the suburb really developed. You see a lot of whitewashed or painted brick as homeowners update the look while preserving the original character. The built-in cabinetry flanking the fireplace is another Edina signature—practical storage that adds architectural interest.

What stands out in this home is how lived-in and personal it feels. The board games stacked on the shelves, the family photos, the mix of books and decorative items—this is a space designed for actual family life, not a showroom. Our job is to add technology that serves that lifestyle without disrupting it.
