Sometimes the best soundbar placement isn't below the TV—it's above. This Edina homeowner wanted their 75-inch TV mounted above a beautiful carved wood cabinet, but the cabinet's height meant a soundbar below the TV would look cramped. The solution? Mount the soundbar above the TV instead.
We mounted this 75-inch TV on drywall using a tilt bracket, positioning it at optimal viewing height above the ornate media cabinet. The tilt bracket allows the screen to angle slightly downward, reducing glare from the large windows and providing a better viewing angle from the seating area.
The soundbar is mounted directly above the TV on the wall. While unconventional, this placement works well acoustically—sound travels down to the listening position naturally, and dialogue remains clear and centered with the on-screen action. It also keeps the visual balance of the setup clean, with the cabinet's decorative doors unobstructed below.
Every room has its own challenges. In this case, the homeowner's existing furniture and room layout called for a creative approach. The carved cabinet is a beautiful piece they wanted to keep, and mounting the soundbar above rather than below the TV preserved the room's aesthetic while delivering great sound.
The cables run down either side of the TV to the devices on the cabinet—a practical solution that keeps everything connected and accessible.
