When you have a collection of signed jerseys and sports memorabilia, you need a TV to match. This Edina homeowner's basement is a sports fan's paradise—framed Brett Favre and Minnesota jerseys on the walls, collectibles on the shelves, and now an absolutely massive 86-inch TV as the centerpiece.
We mounted this 86-inch TV on drywall between two matching bookcases, creating the perfect setup for game day. A TV this size demands attention, and centered on the wall with the symmetrical shelving on either side, it becomes the undisputed focal point of the room.
At 86 inches, this is serious hardware. These large-format TVs require heavy-duty mounting brackets rated for the weight, and secure attachment to wall studs is absolutely essential. There's no room for error when you're hanging a screen this size—it needs to be level, secure, and positioned at exactly the right height.
Basements make ideal spaces for large TVs. The controlled lighting means no glare issues, and you can go bigger than you might in a main living area. This room has everything—comfortable seating, the memorabilia collection, and now a screen that makes every game feel like you're at the stadium.
The bookcases provide storage for media devices, gaming consoles, and more collectibles, keeping everything organized and within reach of the viewing area.
