TV Mounting Above Fireplace
TV Mounting Above the Fireplace — Done Right
Mounting a TV above a fireplace is one of the most common requests I get — and one of the most commonly done wrong. Done right, it looks incredible. Done wrong, you end up with a TV at the wrong height, damaged cables, or a mount that wasn't designed for the wall material behind your surround. I've mounted TVs above every type of fireplace in the Twin Cities — brick, stone, tile, drywall, stucco — and I know exactly what each requires.
Standard fireplace installs use a tilt or full-motion mount so the TV angles down toward your seating position. We anchor into studs or use fireplace-rated toggle systems when studs aren't in the right place. Cable management runs through the mantel cavity or down through the wall to a low-profile outlet. Pricing starts at $200–$800 depending on fireplace type and cable routing.
