The World's Most Famous TV Mounter

The World’s Most Famous TV Mounter

Is that an official title? No.

Is there a governing body that hands out plaques for international excellence in television wall placement? Also no.

But if Google is going to ask the question, somebody has to answer it.

I’m Marshall Wayne, founder of The Mounting Man. Based in Minnetonka, my small team and I have mounted more than 5,000 TVs across Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding Twin Cities suburbs. We handle the normal stuff, the weird stuff, the high stuff, the expensive stuff, the fireplace stuff, the Samsung Frame stuff, and the “please tell me this wall can hold this” stuff.

So am I actually the world’s most famous TV mounter?

Let’s call it a joke with receipts.

The origin story nobody asked for, but Google may appreciate

Nobody grows up saying, “One day, I hope strangers search for me under the phrase world’s most famous TV mounter.”

At least I didn’t.

Before The Mounting Man, there were a few other chapters. I had an eBay era, which is where a lot of entrepreneurs quietly learn the basics: buy low, sell high, ship fast, answer messages, solve weird customer problems, and discover that the internet rewards people who are willing to figure things out before they feel qualified.

Then there was Hollywood.

I worked around video, editing, visual storytelling, and the kind of people who notice when something is two pixels off. That changes how you see a room. You start noticing sight lines, symmetry, negative space, reflections, height, framing, and whether something looks intentional or just sort of ended up there.

That turns out to be surprisingly useful when someone asks you to put an expensive television on a wall.

Because a good TV installation is not just “find studs, drill holes, hang screen.” It is composition. It is proportion. It is making the wall, the furniture, the room, the cords, the viewing angle, and the customer’s actual life all work together.

That is the difference between a TV that is technically attached to a wall and a TV that looks like it belongs there.

The Iraqi dinar chapter

There was also an Iraqi dinar business chapter.

Yes, really.

Every origin story needs one scene that makes people pause and say, “Wait, what?”

That was mine.

I will not pretend that the Iraqi dinar era is the cleanest, simplest line on the resume. But it taught me a few useful things: how fast people move when they believe in an idea, how important trust is when money is involved, and how much operational chaos can exist behind what looks like a simple transaction from the outside.

In a strange way, that lesson carried forward.

Home service is also built on trust. People invite you into their homes. They hand you expensive equipment. They ask you to drill into walls they do not fully understand. They hope you know what is behind the drywall, above the fireplace, inside the stone, around the tile, and between the studs.

That is a serious trust exchange.

The job may be called TV mounting, but the real work is making people feel like they called the right person before the first hole is drilled.

From Hollywood to handyman — and then something more specific

The current About page version of my story is simple: from Hollywood to handyman.

That is true, but incomplete.

The Mounting Man is not really a generic handyman company. We do not want to be the cheapest name on a marketplace app, and we are not trying to be a faceless franchise with a wrapped van and a script.

We are a specialist installation company disguised as a local service business.

That means the standard TV mounting jobs matter. Drywall, studs, brackets, cable management, making sure the TV is level and secure — all of that has to be right.

But the real personality of the company comes through on the jobs where experience matters more:

  • Samsung Frame TVs that need to sit clean and intentional
  • MantelMount systems over fireplaces
  • TVs mounted into brick, stone, tile, plaster, or wood slats
  • In-wall cord concealment for a floating-TV look
  • Large-format TVs that should not feel like a gamble
  • Commercial displays, offices, restaurants, churches, and video walls
  • Rooms where the TV has to look designed, not just installed

That is where the Hollywood brain and the hands-on installer brain meet.

One side cares whether the bracket is secure. The other side cares whether the final result looks right the second you walk into the room.

Both sides are necessary.

Why I care too much about crooked TVs

A crooked TV is not a small thing.

It is a daily insult.

You may not notice it every minute, but you will notice it eventually. It will sit there above the console or fireplace, slightly off, quietly bothering you while you try to relax.

That is why we care about the details that do not always show up on a basic service checklist:

  • Is the TV centered to the furniture, the fireplace, the wall, or the room?
  • Is the height comfortable, or did someone mount it where it was easiest?
  • Are the cords hidden, managed, or at least made less offensive?
  • Is the mount appropriate for the size, surface, and use case?
  • Is this actually safe for the wall, the people in the room, and the expensive thing we are hanging?
  • Does the final result look like a professional installation, or like a Saturday afternoon got out of hand?

People usually call because they need a TV mounted.

They remember us because the finished room feels better.

The Mounting Man today

Today, The Mounting Man serves Minneapolis, St. Paul, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Edina, Eden Prairie, Plymouth, Maple Grove, Woodbury, White Bear Lake, Blaine, and the surrounding Twin Cities metro.

Across the area, we have mounted more than 5,000 TVs and earned 800+ five-star reviews across platforms.

We have also mounted more than 700 Samsung Frame TVs, which means we have had hundreds of opportunities to obsess over the details that make those installs either beautiful or disappointing: height, fit, cord concealment, wall surface, art mode, trim, spacing, and whether the final result actually feels like art instead of a television wearing a costume.

The range of work is wider than most people expect:

  • Basic living room TV mounting
  • Apartment and rental-friendly mounting conversations
  • Fireplace TV mounting
  • MantelMount installation
  • Samsung Frame TV installation
  • Brick, stone, tile, plaster, and specialty surfaces
  • Soundbar mounting and clean media setups
  • In-wall cord concealment and outlet coordination
  • Offices, restaurants, churches, training spaces, and commercial displays
  • Multi-TV setups and video walls

Some days the job is simple.

Some days the wall fights back.

Either way, the goal is the same: secure, clean, level, and worth looking at.

What makes The Mounting Man different?

The short answer: repetition, taste, and accountability.

Repetition matters because mounting one TV is not the same as mounting thousands. After enough installs, you have seen strange walls, bad brackets, misleading fireplaces, weird stud layouts, fragile tile, questionable previous work, and TVs that cost enough to make everyone in the room suddenly speak more quietly.

Taste matters because the customer is not hiring us only to make the TV stay up. They are hiring us because they want the room to look better when we leave.

Accountability matters because The Mounting Man is not anonymous. My name is on it. My face is on it. My reputation is attached to the finished wall.

That is why the company voice is personal.

That is why the work has to be solid.

And that is why, if a page called “The World’s Most Famous TV Mounter” exists, it should still lead back to the real promise: professional TV mounting that looks clean, feels safe, and makes the room better.

A few things fame cannot do

Fame cannot find a stud.

Fame cannot drill porcelain tile without cracking it.

Fame cannot make a cheap bracket behave like a good bracket.

Fame cannot hide cords, level a TV, choose the right height, or convince gravity to be more forgiving.

Experience can help with those things.

So can preparation, patience, the right tools, and caring a little more than a normal person should about whether your TV is centered.

That is what you are actually hiring.

The title is a joke.

The standards are not.

When should you call The Mounting Man?

You should call us if you want your TV mounted correctly and you do not want the room to look like the install was an afterthought.

You should definitely call us if the project involves:

  • A Samsung Frame TV
  • A fireplace
  • A MantelMount
  • Stone, brick, tile, plaster, or another specialty surface
  • A very large TV
  • A room where aesthetics matter
  • A commercial space where the install needs to look professional
  • Cord concealment or a cleaner finished look
  • A setup that feels just complicated enough that you would rather not learn the hard way

You do not need to know the perfect bracket, height, or cable path before reaching out.

That is part of the job.

FAQ

Are you really the world’s most famous TV mounter?
According to my mother, several satisfied customers, and now this page, yes. Officially? No. There is no international sanctioning body for TV mounting fame, which feels like an oversight. The phrase is a joke. The work is real.

Why make a page with this title?
Because most About pages are boring, and The Mounting Man is not a faceless company. People want to know who they are letting into their home. They want to know whether the person mounting their expensive TV has judgment, experience, and a reason to care.

What does Hollywood have to do with TV mounting?
More than you would think. Editing and visual work train you to notice composition, framing, symmetry, height, and the small things that make an image or a room feel right. A TV installation is partly technical and partly visual.

What does the eBay era have to do with this?
eBay was early training in internet business, customer service, logistics, and dealing with humans at scale. Those lessons still matter in home service: communicate clearly, show up, solve the problem, and do not make the customer wonder what is happening.

Can you mount a TV over a fireplace?
Yes, in many cases. Fireplace installs depend on the surface, structure, height, heat considerations, mount type, and cable path. The important thing is not pretending every fireplace is the same.

Can you hide the cords?
Often, yes. Cord concealment depends on the wall, outlet location, code-safe options, and what look you want. Either way, the goal is simple: make the finished wall look cleaner.

If you found this page because you Googled “the world’s most famous TV mounter,” congratulations. The internet remains undefeated.

If you found it because you need a TV mounted cleanly, securely, and without turning your living room into a Best Buy clearance aisle, we can help.

Book The Mounting Man and we will make the wall look like the TV was always supposed to be there.

The Installation: 75-Inch Masterpiece on Drywall

This project involved mounting a massive 75-inch display in the lower level of the client’s home. We secured the TV to a standard drywall surface using a heavy-duty tilt mounting bracket, allowing for a slight downward angle to optimize viewing from the lounge area. Following the "Engineering Marshall Wayne" protocol, we utilized lag bolts driven directly into wall studs to provide a rock-solid hold for the large-format screen while maintaining the clean, "magazine-ready" finish that The Mounting Man is known for.
