Wood slat accent walls above fireplaces are a popular modern design trend in Plymouth, and this installation is a great example of how they work with TV mounting. The homeowner had a gas fireplace with a wood slat surround running up to the ceiling—and behind those slats was an existing conduit that ran down into the cabinet below.
We mounted the tilt bracket through the wood slats and into the studs behind them. The slats themselves don't provide structural support, so finding and securing into the wall studs behind the decorative surface is critical. Once the bracket was anchored and the TV was hung, we ran all the cords through the existing conduit and down into the cabinet—completely out of sight.
The result is a sleek, modern look with the TV floating on the wood slat wall and zero visible cables.
Plymouth has seen a wave of modern renovations and new builds featuring accent walls, linear fireplaces, and clean design lines. Wood slat walls, shiplap, and other decorative surfaces are becoming more common—and they all present unique mounting challenges. The key is always getting through the decorative layer and into the structural studs behind it.
