This Edina living room features a beautiful gray stone fireplace surround that creates a stunning focal point. Adding a 75-inch TV above it takes this space from cozy to entertainment-ready—perfect for movie nights, game days, or just relaxing by the fire.
We mounted this 75-inch TV on a tilt bracket above the fireplace. The drywall section above the stone surround gave us a clean mounting surface, and we secured the bracket into the wall studs with heavy-duty lag bolts. With a TV this size, there's no compromising on the mount—it needs to be absolutely solid.
The tilt bracket angles the screen downward toward the seating area, which is essential when the TV is mounted above eye level. This eliminates the neck strain you'd get from looking up at a flat-mounted screen and helps reduce glare from overhead lighting.
The homeowner opted to handle the cord concealment themselves to save on the installation cost. The cables currently run along the mantel to the right side where they can access power and components. With a stone fireplace like this, running cables inside the wall isn't always straightforward anyway—external cord covers painted to match the wall are often the cleanest solution.
When mounting above a stone fireplace, we always assess the wall construction carefully. In this case, the TV mounts to the drywall above the stone, not into the stone itself. This gives us a secure stud-mounted installation while keeping the beautiful stonework intact.
