Above-the-fireplace installations remain the most popular request we get in Plymouth, and this one is a classic example. A 75-inch TV mounted on drywall above a gas fireplace with a tilt bracket—simple, clean, and effective.
The tilt bracket is essential for fireplace mounts because the TV sits higher than typical eye level. By tilting the screen downward a few degrees, the viewing angle becomes comfortable from the couch without any neck strain. We secured the bracket into the wall studs above the fireplace with lag bolts, confirmed it was perfectly level, and hung the 75-inch panel.
Gas fireplaces are generally safe for TV mounting above—the heat rises and dissipates, and most gas fireplaces don't generate enough heat at the mantel level to affect the TV. That said, we always check the temperature above the mantel before mounting to ensure it's within safe operating range for the TV.
Plymouth homes feature every style of fireplace imaginable—gas, wood-burning, electric, linear, traditional, and modern. Each one presents slightly different mounting considerations, from heat management to cable routing to surface material. We've mounted TVs above all of them, and we bring that experience to every Plymouth installation.
