This gorgeous Edina home features a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace that serves as the dramatic centerpiece of the living room. We mounted a 75-inch TV directly onto the stone, with a curved soundbar resting on the natural wood mantel below. The result is a perfect blend of rustic texture and modern entertainment.
Mounting a TV on stone is one of the more challenging installations we do, and it's one of our specialties. You can't just drill into stone the same way you would drywall—it requires a hammer drill with masonry bits, the right anchors, and an understanding of how to work with natural stone without cracking it.
We positioned this 75-inch TV at the ideal height above the floating wood mantel. The stone's natural variation in color and texture—those warm tans and grays—creates a beautiful backdrop that makes the TV feel like part of the architecture rather than an add-on.
Stone fireplaces are increasingly popular in new construction and remodels throughout Edina. They look incredible, but they intimidate a lot of DIYers and even some installers. The key is using the right hardware: Tapcon concrete screws or sleeve anchors rated for the weight, drilled at the proper depth into solid stone.
The floating wood mantel on this fireplace provides the perfect shelf for the curved soundbar, keeping it at the right height for audio projection while maintaining that clean, intentional look.
