An 86-inch TV is a serious piece of hardware. These large-format displays are heavy—typically 70 to 90 pounds depending on the brand—and they demand a bracket rated for the weight and secure stud mounting with heavy-duty lag bolts.
For this Plymouth installation, we secured a heavy-duty tilt bracket into two wall studs using lag bolts, ensuring the bracket could handle the weight with a significant safety margin. The tilt function is especially useful with a TV this large—when mounted at the right height, a slight downward tilt brings the screen into the perfect viewing angle for the seating area.
The homeowner chose to handle the cord concealing themselves to save on costs. It's a reasonable approach—the mount is the part where professional installation really matters, and cord concealing can be tackled as a DIY project with a power bridge kit or cord covers.
We're seeing more and more 85-inch and 86-inch TVs across Plymouth as prices come down and homeowners want that home theater experience. These installations require extra care—the bracket must be perfectly level because even a slight tilt is magnified across that wide screen, and the weight demands secure stud mounting with the right hardware.
